GoPro Athletes Sweep Podium at Atlanta SX

GoPro is proud to announce its first official Supercross podium sweep at the Atlanta Supercross this past Saturday inside the Georgia Dome. GoPro athlete James Stewart took his first win of the year ahead of fellow GoPro athletes Ryan Villopoto and series points leader Davi Millsaps.

Riding the momentum of his fast lap times in qualifying and a heat race win earlier in the evening, Yoshimura Suzuki’s Stewart grabbed the holeshot when the gates dropped for the 450 main event and quickly settled into the lead. The technical track and tacky red clay was no match for Stewart’s smooth, flawless ride aboard his RM-Z450. This win marked the first for Stewart in 350 days, and should prove to be the launching pad for continued success in the coming weeks.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto and Rockstar Energy Racing’s Millsaps also snuck out of the first turn with good starts, affording them solid positioning for a podium finish early on. And although Villopoto kept Stewart within striking distance, Stewart maintained his lead throughout the 20 laps.

The two leaders developed a five-second lead ahead of Millsaps in third place, but the Rockstar Energy Racing rider easily held onto his position ahead of the rest of the 450 pack. Millsaps’ finish sets him 22 points ahead of Villopoto, who took over second place in the points chase with his runner-up finish in the Georgia Dome.
